Here's a snack food/dessert that gives you radiant skin, reduces high blood pressure, promotes heart health, strengthens bones... an all-round anti-ageing 'super food' (and I use that term with utter disgust with myself, because I hate it... but in this case, it's true!).
Sesame seeds are extremely high in calcium, protein and iron and other essential minerals including copper, manganese, zinc, phosphorus and more. So getting them in your gob any way you can is a good idea.
This way is pretty pleasant. It's a classic Greek/Israeli dish and is one of my favourite things to pop in said gob. There are many different versions of halva, most of them packed full of sugar, some not made with sesame. This version has no sugar! and takes all of 5 minutes to plonk together.

4 cups untoasted and unhulled seasame seeds
1/3 cup raw organic honey, melted gently in a bain-marie (stick jar in a bowl of hot water) so that it pours easily
Pop the seeds into a food processor or high-powered blender and blend until you achieve your desired consistency. I like my halva just as much with a bit of texture in it as I do totally smooth. The smoother you want it, the longer you need to blend the seeds to 'massage' out the oil.
Place blended seeds in a bowl, add honey and mix thoroughly until you get a smooth paste.
Grab a deep dish and pat the mixture firmly into the base.
Place the halva in the fridge and allow to set (about 1 hour).
When ready to serve, slice into chunks. Best stored in fridge.
You can add roughly chopped nuts into the mix too... toasted almonds, peanuts or pistachios work really really well.
I added 2 tablespoons of raw cacao powder to half the mixture in the photo above.
You can cheat by using tahini instead of grinding your own sesame seeds, which will give you a halva more like the store-bought version. It's not raw however. Here's the recipe for that.
